Sketches of traditional Romanian Houses and Churches
As part of Alexandru Gheorghe's studies, he completed these sketches of old traditional houses from Romania and also some churches, many of them renovated, but still keeping the traditional style and workmanship.
Alex writes:
"Some of the churches sketched here are built in a style called "Maramuresan" from the region of Maramures - very far north in my country. Because it is a mountainous area, there is often heavy rain and snowfalls, therefore the roof must have a very steep slope.
In the case of some of the traditional houses, they also will be seen to have a very tall roof compared with the actual height of the space where life took place - which is similar all over the country and, just as about anywhere even nowadays, is usually around 2.5 metres."
